Position Overview:
As a valued member of Cockfosters Medical Centre, the successful candidate will engage in a range of essential responsibilities aligned with the practice's operational schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
The post-holder will be expected to:

  1. Conduct in-person consultations with patients.
  2. Manage telephone consultations and address patient inquiries.
  3. Perform home visits for patient assessments.
  4. Review and authorize repeat prescriptions.
  5. Handle administrative tasks, including paperwork, insurance documentation, and correspondence efficiently.
  6. Make independent, professional decisions regarding patient issues, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
  7. Evaluate the healthcare requirements of patients presenting with undiagnosed conditions.
  8. Screen patients for potential health risks and early indicators of illness.
  9. Collaborate with patients to create tailored care plans in accordance with established practice protocols.
  10. Provide health education and counseling to patients.
  11. Manage patient admissions and discharges, and refer to other healthcare providers as necessary.
  12. Maintain accurate and timely consultation records in line with agreed standards.
  13. Gather data for quality audits, ensuring accurate coding for relevant targets.
  14. Issue both acute and repeat prescriptions using computerized systems to minimize handwritten prescriptions.
  15. Prescribe medications following the practice's formulary or generically when clinically suitable.
  16. Fulfill all standard duties and responsibilities expected of a General Practitioner in a primary care setting.

Additional Information:
The post-holder will receive dedicated time for Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services (ECF), and Investment and Impact Fund (IIF) initiatives, with progress monitored and discussed regularly with GP partners.
