About the Position

Location: Pinbrook Road, Exeter

Full-time commitment of 40 hours per week This is a permanent role requiring five days of work each week, including weekends. Compensation is set at £11.54 per hour, with a schedule from Saturday to Wednesday, allowing Thursday and Friday as rest days. Overtime is compensated at X 1.25, with Bank holidays at X 2.0 Additionally, there is potential to earn a performance-related bonus.

Key Responsibilities

As a shop associate, you will oversee the daily operations of our re-use shop, collaborating with the re-use hub manager to ensure the shop is well-stocked and that items are appropriately stored or prepared for sale.

Your tasks will include:

Organizing and merchandising stock, preparing, pricing, and presenting donations for sale to enhance sales and ensure customer satisfaction. Managing the cash register, reconciling cash and credit card transactions, and processing returns and refunds. Ensuring items are sold at fair prices and that all rejected goods are disposed of correctly. Coordinating collections and deliveries in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Safeguarding the shop premises, inventory, and cash.

You will be expected to embody the values of the shop and promote the charitable aspect of the re-use initiative, while also delivering exceptional customer service to encourage repeat business and ensure the shop operates smoothly and profitably.

Qualifications

A strong passion for environmental issues, particularly regarding this re-use initiative, along with prior retail experience and a genuine enthusiasm for delivering outstanding customer service. You should possess knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or be eager to quickly learn, with an understanding of stock management, merchandising, and the financial aspects of retail, along with: A flexible approach to work, as shift and weekend work will be necessary. The confidence to initially operate independently in the re-use shop until volunteers are onboarded. Excellent collaboration skills, as you will work closely with site personnel at the HWRCs.
