Job Title: Data Editor

Fastmarkets is a leading provider of price-reporting agency (PRA) and information services for global commodities. We are seeking a highly skilled Data Editor to join our team.

Job Summary

The Data Editor will be responsible for driving Fastmarkets' PRA strategy in the biofuels and feedstock markets by ensuring the delivery of prices and market-leading content and engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong journalism skills, a network of contacts, and experience working in a PRA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce high-level content, including insightful market reporting, in-depth focus pieces, and interviews, to drive market engagement and visibility in the battery raw materials/energy transition markets.
  • Help drive presence and reputation in the biofuels and feedstock markets in which Fastmarkets aims to expand.
  • Identify prices to launch and promote, including determining the specifications, methodology, and data submission pool.
  • Work with the broader business to plan engagement and help lead the biofuels and feedstock team to engage with market participants and exchanges, leveraging our insight to deliver commodities expertise and knowledge to our customers.
  • Produce, coordinate, and edit a range of strategic content in a joined-up approach across markets and geographies for maximum impact.
  • Guide and mentor reporters and give strategic and functional direction to the team.
  • Assess and approve prices for certain strategic markets as required, and help ensure all prices produced by reporters meet Fastmarkets' and its regulators' rigorous standards.
  • Align strategic content with marketing, and across customer interfaces: editorial, events, client presentations, and meetings.
  • Burnish our reputation for market-leading expertise and insight by serving as a brand ambassador at Fastmarkets' and other events, attracting high-profile speakers, presenting at events and in meetings, and moderating panels and webinars.
  • Raise our profile in social media platforms to showcase our expertise and build interest.
Requirements
  • Strong journalism skills and writing flair.
  • A network of contacts and strong industry relations, ideally in the battery raw materials field.
  • Experience working in a PRA.
  • Experience pricing a benchmark, or developing prices is highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge of the battery raw materials market or associated markets would be ideal.
  • Ability to operate at the highest levels internally within a matrix management structure and with external stakeholders.
  • Public speaking experience or demonstrable ability to do so with confidence and authority.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically and strategically about the long-term goals of the organization.
  • Market Analysis: Strong analytical skills to assess market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes.
  • Data-driven decision-making to guide product development and market positioning.
  • Risk Management: Skill in assessing and managing risks associated with new price launches.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills to ensure timely and successful implementation of new initiatives. Attention to detail and organization to manage complex projects.
  • Networking and Relationship Building: Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and industry influencers. Networking to stay informed about industry trends and potential collaboration opportunities.
