Job Title: Advanced Healthcare Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Healthcare Practitioner to join our team at Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and expanding service, providing high-quality care to patients with hand and plastic surgery needs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Take on a lead role in managing advanced pathway management and review within the hand therapy service, optimizing operational efficiency and clinical outcomes.
  • Lead Hand Therapy Trauma Clinics and Therapy-led elective/outpatient clinics, working autonomously to assess, diagnose, plan, and implement pathways of care for a highly specialist caseload.
  • Work closely with other advanced practitioners in hand therapy and form great working relationships with consultants.
  • Deputize for the therapy service lead as required, delivering service improvements and providing expert clinical knowledge in relation to service development.
  • Lead education and training of therapy staff and other healthcare professionals, including GPs, consultants, and other AHPs.
  • Supervise other therapy practitioners working in plastics clinics, including responsibility for the competency framework and supervision of therapy staff.
Requirements:
  • Degree in a relevant therapy profession or equivalent.
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent and relevant postgraduate courses.
  • Extensive evidence of training at a specialist level relevant to hand therapy.
  • Injection therapy qualification or willingness to complete.
Working Arrangements:

This is a full-time permanent position, working within the Mid Yorkshire Specialist Hand Therapy Team. The successful candidate will be expected to work extended hours and weekends as service requires, within their own specialty, including emergency work as per service business continuity plan.
