Position Overview

The successful candidate will be stationed solely within the Neonatal Unit at a prominent healthcare facility. This extensive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is equipped with 9 Intensive Care cots, 9 High Dependency cots, and 19 Special Care cots, delivering comprehensive medical neonatal services, including advanced techniques such as High Frequency Oscillation, inhaled Nitric Oxide, and Therapeutic Hypothermia. The modern facility is situated in a newly constructed Women and Children's Building, overseen by a team of skilled Consultant Neonatologists.

Training in Neonatal Cardiology and Haemodynamics:

The unit boasts a high level of proficiency in echocardiography, with several consultants having received specialized training, including EACVI certification. We offer a successful in-house training program in Neonatal Cardiology and haemodynamics. This structured training spans six months, accommodating two candidates per cycle. The selected individual will have the opportunity to participate in this cardiology training, gaining skills in echocardiography, and will be encouraged to take advantage of the following educational opportunities:

  • Participation in dedicated lecture sessions focused on Neohaemodynamics
  • Regular hands-on echocardiography training within the neonatal unit
  • Review and assessment of echocardiograms conducted by the candidate
  • Maintenance of a logbook for ECHO training and ongoing evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will be dedicated exclusively to the Neonatal Unit, with no responsibilities in General Paediatrics. This large Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is equipped to provide a full range of medical neonatal care, including advanced treatments. The facility is led by a committed team of experienced Consultant Neonatologists.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Primary medical qualification (e.g., MBChB, MBBS)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct clinical assessments and examinations
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid Licence to practice
