About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join our team as a Horse Care Specialist at Daniel Thwaites Head Office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our four magnificent Shire horses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional care and attention to the horses, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being at all times.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for each horse, taking into account their unique needs and requirements.
  • Assess and manage the horses' dietary and nutritional needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
  • Train and develop the horses' skills, ensuring they are well-behaved and responsive to commands.
  • Plan and implement fitness programs tailored to each horse's needs, ensuring they are physically fit and able to perform their duties.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and discipline within the stables.
  • Provide first-stage veterinary care, promoting and sustaining the horses' health and preventing deterioration.
  • Represent Daniel Thwaites at events and functions, showcasing our horses and promoting our brand.
  • Travel with the horses to events and functions, ensuring their safe transportation and well-being.
Requirements
  • Passion for horses and a strong understanding of their care and welfare.
  • Experience working with horses, either in a professional or personal capacity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Outgoing and confident, with excellent communication skills.
  • Flexible with working days and hours, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Full driving license and ability to drive horse-drawn vehicles.
