About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join our team at Daniel Thwaites Head Office as a Horse Care Specialist. As a key member of our equine team, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of our four Shire horses.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional care and attention to the horses, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being at all times.
- Develop and implement effective stable management practices to maintain a clean and safe environment for the horses.
- Assess and address the dietary and nutritional needs of each horse, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
- Train and develop the skills of the horses to ensure they are well-behaved and responsive to handling.
- Plan and implement fitness programs tailored to the individual needs of each horse.
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and discipline are maintained at all times.
- Provide first-stage veterinary care and respond to any health issues that may arise.
- Represent Daniel Thwaites at events and functions, showcasing our horses and promoting our brand.
- Travel with the horses to events and functions, ensuring their safe transportation and handling.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the horses' care and well-being.
Requirements
- Proven experience in horse care and management.
- Strong knowledge of horse behavior, nutrition, and health.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Full driving license and ability to drive horse-drawn vehicles.
