Senior Design Engineer

Axis Technology and Development Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team in Gilford, Northern Ireland. As a key member of our Design Team, you will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, and installing our Mushroom harvesting equipment worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:- Produce detailed designs and drawings using SolidWorks software.
- Coordinate with Senior Designers and Technicians to manage projects and reduce cost and cycle time on current plant equipment.
- Use 3D and 2D software, including Solidworks and Autocad, to create BOM's, layouts, and fabrication drawings for projects.
- Manage and liaise with customers and suppliers on design specifics, aesthetics, and plant requirements.
- Participate in Research and Development projects, both in the office and workshop.
- Support sales through sales drawings, preliminary technical specifications, site visits, and technical advice on products and process development.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Assist Management in developing an accurate estimate of time, resource, and materials.
- Ensure effective communication with clients, suppliers, and the team.
- Work with Technicians to streamline the assembly of machines.
- Perform on-site work during the commissioning of systems on customer sites.
- Working knowledge of stainless steel and structures.
- Precision engineering experience.
- Effective communication and articulation skills at all levels, internally and externally.
- Positive attitude and flexibility in work approach.
- Awareness of deadlines and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to self-improvement, education, and development.
- Awareness of general Health and Safety rules.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of post-graduate design experience in a precision engineering environment.
- Computer literacy with SolidWorks experience, analysis programs, and Microsoft suite.
- Experience in auditing and measuring on site and designing bespoke engineering systems.
- Good analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
