About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Caretaker to join our team at BAM Construct & Ventures UK. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional maintenance and security services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide porterage, maintenance, waste management, and security services on school sites and premises.
  • Ensure the security of the site, including locking and unlocking school buildings and areas, key holding, and setting/unsetting of security systems.
  • Undertake regular security checks and identify security risks, monitor fire safety equipment, and assist in carrying out fire drills.
  • Operate and respond to alarm systems, liaise with contractors, and provide emergency access to school sites.
  • Undertake minor repairs, including redecorating, plumbing, and electrical work, and organize and carry out various maintenance duties to ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises.
  • Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and report any issues, participate in a preventative planned maintenance program, and conduct routine inspections of buildings, fixtures, fittings, furniture, premises, and grounds.
  • Remove waste to central collection points, assist in administration of log books, and undertake emergency cleaning tasks during specified times.
  • Coordinate deliveries to the site and distribution within, and monitor the performance of contractors and carry out inductions prior to them gaining access to the site.
  • Assist in safety audits of the premises and contribute to relevant risk assessment activity.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Caretaking or trade experience in a similar environment.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of the use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources.
  • Working knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice, and legislation.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, relate well to children and adults, and demonstrate a flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, COSHH regulations, and the ability to assist other team members in the discharge of their duties.
  • This role is subject to a satisfactory passing of an enhanced DBS check.
