About the Role

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a SEND school in South Tyneside. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have ASD and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

The school caters for students aged 2-19 years and provides a nurturing, educational, and therapeutic community. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in lessons and activities to support students with learning difficulties
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and welcoming school environment

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • A good knowledge of EHCPs
  • The ability to assist in lessons and activities
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
