Job Title: Specialist Learning Support Assistant

Job Summary: Leader Education is recruiting for a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to work at a specialist school based in South Tyneside. The ideal candidate will be friendly, compassionate and have some relevant experience working with children and young people with PMLD or SEND.

About the School: The school caters for pupils aged 2 to 19 with severe learning difficulties and complex or profound needs, aiming to provide tailored support to ensure inclusivity and a fulfilling curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex learning difficulties in a specialist school setting
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students with profound learning difficulties
  • Assist with daily living activities and promote independence
  • Contribute to a positive and welcoming school environment

Requirements:

  • Fully enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant experience working with children with complex learning difficulties
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
  • Compassionate and patient personality
  • Passion for education and creating a supportive environment
