Board Game Production Lead
We invite you to #JOINTHEREBELLION
For over three decades, we have been independently crafting and publishing remarkable video games across our various studios established by Jason & Chris Kingsley. However, Rebellion transcends gaming; we also operate our own film and motion capture studio, develop board games, publish literature, and through 2000AD, release comics and graphic novels, including the iconic Judge Dredd.
Our operations span multiple locations in the UK, and we embrace a hybrid work model for this role from our studio in Oxford. We value work-life balance and are open to discussing how we can accommodate your working preferences by providing flexibility in both hours and the frequency of onsite days.
Rebellion is seeking a Board Game Production Lead for Rebellion Unplugged, our division dedicated to Tabletop RPGs and Board Games. This position is an excellent opportunity for a board game enthusiast to advance their production career within a dynamic and ambitious company.
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in board game production. This role is fast-paced, involving intricate, multi-faceted games, thus requiring exceptional communication and prioritization skills. You will collaborate closely with the development team from the initial phases of projects to enhance both quality and cost-effectiveness, ensuring the right materials align with the gaming experience.
Your responsibilities will include maintaining clear and consistent quality standards, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will oversee the schedule in conjunction with in-house game developers, manage the quality assurance process for samples and finished products, solicit quotes, and uphold necessary safety and product import certifications, advising on safety testing requirements for international markets and overseeing their execution.
The ideal candidate will also have experience working with international printers and freight companies, demonstrating the ability to negotiate favorable terms and adapt to varying print deadlines. You will be tasked with arranging freight, monitoring product specifications, print volumes, and timelines, and alerting the team when decisions may lead to freight cost fluctuations.
In addition to production responsibilities, you will continuously analyze stock levels and provide guidance on reprints, while collaborating with our Rights Manager on co-edition print runs. Familiarity with formats and materials used in both the board game and RPG sectors is preferred. Proficiency in InDesign and Photoshop is essential, as you will be required to review files and produce print-ready PDFs.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in board game production
- Strong attention to detail, along with excellent administrative and organizational skills
- Experience in liaising with both domestic and international suppliers
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities
- Solid understanding of budgetary constraints
- Effective time management and scheduling skills
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and title management systems such as Consonance or Biblio
- Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to prioritize, manage multiple deadlines, and thrive in a busy environment
- Passion and knowledge of the board game and RPG industries
Benefits
We provide a comprehensive benefits package for our team, including:
- 22 days of annual leave plus a Christmas closure (typically 4 days) and bank holidays (increasing with service at 5 years – one additional day each year until reaching 31 days)
- Private Medical Insurance and a healthcare cash plan, including dental and vision coverage
- Life Assurance, Income Protection, and Critical Illness Cover
- Enhanced Family Leave
- Interest-Free, Tax-Free loans
- Enhanced Pension Scheme
- Employee Assistance Program offering a range of Mental Health and Wellbeing Support
- And much more, including a variety of discounts, freebies, and social events
