Job Title: Financial Controller - Manufacturing

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at Laing O'Rourke, a leading international engineering and construction company. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strong financial controls and reporting, with a focus on manufacturing experience.

About the Role:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for:

  • Reporting Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow performance
  • Analysing business performance and providing explanations for variances in budget & forecast
  • Take responsibility for balance sheet accounts, FAR & stock listings ensuring reconciliations are undertaken on a monthly basis
  • Weekly cash forecasting, driving opportunities to maximise cash and manage working capital
  • Internal review ensuring Stock and WIP are reflected accurately in the system and on reports
  • Proactively identifying and improving finance and business processes to ensure fast, accurate management information is available
  • Keeping up to date with Accounting Standards and implementing new accounting treatments where necessary
  • Understanding business risks and strategies
  • Prepare and review the supporting schedules for year end audit
  • Preparation of VAT & CIS returns
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. An ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to build and maintain productive working relationships
  • Proven experience working in a deadline-driven environment with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Experience in developing and improving processes
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Experience in managing budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting
  • Excellent IT skills - particularly Excel and PowerPoint with Power BI an advantage
