Community Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Worker to join our team at Two Saints. As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of clients and work with them on a one-to-one basis to identify their needs and develop a client needs assessment.
- Mediate and negotiate with existing housing providers to prevent homelessness and secure suitable accommodation for clients.
- Provide advice and support to clients on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits, and household goods.
- Assist clients with the practicalities of moving to new accommodation, including contacting energy suppliers and setting up household essentials.
- Help clients develop practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, health, and hygiene.
- Participate in drop-in surgeries at designated locations to provide support and guidance to clients.
- Liaise with colleges, training agencies, and employers to help clients access education, employment, or maintain their benefit entitlement.
- Participate in bi-monthly night street counts to identify individuals who are sleeping rough.
- Clear verbal and written English
- Good IT and keyboard skills
- Polite, assertive manner, and ability to self-motivate
- Passion for working in a client/customer-facing role
- Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation
- Interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues
- Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies
- A driver's license and access to own transport is essential

Our services include safe, flexible, and reliable client-led housing and support with a focus on reducing homelessness, improving health and wellbeing, and building on individual's skills and resilience to break the cycle of homelessness, poverty, and exclusion.
We work in partnership with multiple agencies and authorities to deliver support and accommodation needs across Berkshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, and Southampton.
