We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Coordinator to join our team. As an Animal Buyer, you will be responsible for facilitating the selection process of animals through study direction protocol, determining the availability of animals through suppliers, identifying timing shipments, purchasing animals, and ensuring the receipt of animals to the site.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and be able to accurately read and record information. You will work closely with Study Direction, Costing, Operations, and Planning to ensure research model order and change order requirements are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Daily interaction with Study Direction, Costing, Operations, and Planning on research model order and change order requirements
  • Daily interaction with suppliers on supply chain and research model requirements
  • Regular vendor management of KPIs
  • Negotiate cost savings, obtaining retrospective credits, and support cost mitigation with suppliers to Corporate Savings Goals
  • Ensure contract compliance with supplier agreements
  • Develop and communicate costing metrics for Costing Department
  • Manage tactical supplier agreements and contract management activities
  • Order Management through consolidation of orders, purchasing models through the most cost-effective approved suppliers, and managing timely shipments to support project timelines
  • Provide Study Direction and Planning with insight on the research model market and animal availability through suppliers based on bred & delivery dates of animals
