This position presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the MEH Alliance on the significant Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance focuses on integrating and coordinating the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (MEH) services, along with cabling and related support services. This collaborative approach allows various contractors to function as a cohesive unit, facilitating the intricate installation of cabling and piping throughout the expansive power station.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lifting Engineer – Appointed Person, your role will be unique and impactful. Working within the MEH Alliance at Hinkley Point C, you will engage in a project of national importance, contributing to one of the largest construction and nuclear sites in Europe. You will be part of a well-established team, managing a group of skilled Lifting Engineers while overseeing specific sections of the project over the next five years, with ample opportunities for career advancement.

  • Coordinate the planning team to prioritize lifting activities and associated preparations.
  • Develop processes and procedures to effectively manage MEHA lifting operations, ensuring thorough examination of lifting equipment and accessories.
  • Create lift plans in compliance with NNB Management of Lifting Operations Standards.
  • Select appropriate lifting accessories, ensuring proper attachment methods and protection against damage.
  • Conduct briefings for all lifting and rigging supervisors to ensure understanding of the safe work systems outlined in the lift plan.
  • Allocate resources to ensure a designated Lift/Rigging Supervisor directs personnel and adheres to the lift plan.
  • Identify and assess all hazards within the operational area.

This role involves manual tasks, including lifting, bending, using tools, and standing for extended periods.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in lift planning using Mobile, Crawler, and Tower cranes.
  • Expertise in planning rigging operations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Experience in the nuclear power sector is preferred.
  • Background in major construction projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including work within Joint Ventures.

Required Certifications

  • CPCS A61 Appointed Person (Blue Card).
  • ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads and TAP01 (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Steel Erecting/Moving Loads.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
