Director of Policy & Public Affairs

Historic Houses is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our policy and public affairs efforts. As Director of Policy & Public Affairs, you will develop and implement a comprehensive public affairs strategy to influence the development of public policy in the interests of our member houses and gardens.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a public affairs strategy to influence policy decisions
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government officials and industry leaders
  • Develop and implement public affairs campaigns to promote the interests of our member houses and gardens
  • Commission research projects to inform policy decisions
  • Advise member houses on policy, public affairs, and education-related matters

About Historic Houses:

Historic Houses represents over 1,400 historic houses, castles, and gardens in independent ownership across the UK. Our member houses and gardens welcome over 22 million visits each year, generating £1.3 billion in visitor spend and supporting over 33,000 FTE jobs across the country.

Requirements:

  • Senior policy and public affairs specialist with a strategic mindset and excellent communication skills
  • Strong interest in heritage and cultural policy
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement effective public affairs campaigns
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
