Strategic Service Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Strategic Service Development Manager to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of our services by developing innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our population.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic service plans aligned with national priorities and local needs.
  • Conduct thorough market research, horizon scanning, and stakeholder engagement to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Develop compelling business cases and secure funding approvals for new initiatives and service expansions.
  • Collaborate effectively with commissioners, stakeholders, and providers to develop and deliver high-quality services.
  • Oversee the implementation of service improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and patient outcomes.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to operational teams on strategic planning and service development.
Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Proven management level experience in a healthcare or public sector setting.
  • Experience of working within large organizations, preferably with a focus on service development and improvement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying service/quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in business analysis, process mapping, and waste reduction.
  • Excellent financial management skills and a track record of budget accountability.
  • Experience in change management within complex organizations.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Experience managing Mental Health and Learning Disability (MHDLDA) clinical services.
  • Background in a commercial environment, with experience securing new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge of the clinical commissioning environment.
  • Marketing experience.

  • Ability to travel independently across the county/country in a timely and flexible manner without reliance on public transport.
