Transformative Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary leader to join our College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as the Head of School for the School of Social Sciences. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our institution and make a lasting impact on our students, staff, and community.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our School of Social Sciences, which is a thriving academic community with 2,000 students and 130+ colleagues. You will have a deep understanding of our courses, students, and colleagues, and a commitment to advancing our performance against the four objectives laid out in our strategic plan: education, research and knowledge exchange, employability, and global engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the School of Social Sciences, developing and implementing a strategic vision that aligns with our institutional goals
  • Provide inspirational leadership to our academic staff, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our students, staff, and external partners
  • Oversee the development and delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programs, ensuring they are relevant, engaging, and of the highest quality
  • Manage our budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability

The term of office as Head of School is for a period of five years, at which time the position will be reviewed with the possibility of extension for a further two-year fixed period. Following completion of the term of office, the postholder will revert to a substantive permanent post within the School.
