About the Role

We are seeking a visionary leader to join our College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as the Head of School for the School of Social Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the School's strategic direction, fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the School, aligning with the University's strategic objectives
  • Lead and manage a team of academics and professional services staff, promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation
  • Foster partnerships with industry, government, and other stakeholders to enhance the School's research and knowledge exchange activities
  • Develop and manage the School's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management
  • Represent the School at University and external events, promoting its research and academic excellence
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and management, with experience in driving strategic change and promoting innovation. They will also have a strong understanding of the social sciences, with a commitment to advancing the School's research and academic excellence.

The term of office as Head of School is for a period of five years, at which time the position will be reviewed with the possibility of extension for a further two-year fixed period. Following completion of the term of office, the postholder will revert to a substantive permanent post within the School.
