Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Lloyds Banking Group Full time

Position Overview

In this role, you will gain exposure to various sectors, with a primary focus on the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) desk.

Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) are essential in facilitating the operations of Lloyds Banking Group. They are employed for:

  • Significant Risk Transfers (SRTs): These mechanisms are utilized to decrease the Risk Weighted Assets (RWAs) of a division by transferring them to the SPV, effectively 'de-recognizing' them from the balance sheet. This process aids in reducing the RWAs of the originating division and supports the Group's capital management.
  • Retail Lending: SPVs that involve underlying assets such as Retail Mortgages (High Loan to Value, LTV). We securitize existing High LTV (85/95%) mortgages to enhance the Retail Division's lending capacity.
  • Pension Assets: SPVs also assist in meeting contingent asset requirements for various pension schemes within the Group.

You will be tasked with reporting the Profit and Loss (PnL) associated with the SPVs and within the Group Corporate Treasury. Weekly PnL reporting is mandatory, and for structures containing embedded derivatives, daily mark-to-market PnLs will be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist your line manager in overseeing the Front Office operations.
  • Facilitate the booking of new, complex transactions, providing necessary information to stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare weekly Profit & Loss reports, conduct reconciliations, provide market-based commentary, manage sign-offs, resolve issues, and address partner concerns.
  • Support the month-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting and validation of the bank's balance sheet.

About Lloyds Banking Group:

We are not just another bank; we are a dynamic, evolving organization committed to transforming finance for the better. Our mission is to empower our employees to innovate, explore new possibilities, and grow with purpose.

Required Qualifications:

  • A qualified accountant or in the final stages of qualification.
  • A finance professional with a solid track record across various roles and/or extensive knowledge in their area of expertise.
  • Familiarity with relevant business systems, alongside practical knowledge of financial systems and processes.
  • Proficient in utilizing and manipulating spreadsheets, creating formatted charts, and employing advanced formulas and pivot tables.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while addressing urgent ad hoc queries and requests from stakeholders.

Our Commitment to Diversity:

We strive to be inclusive every day, building an organization that mirrors modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.

We want our employees to feel a sense of belonging and to be their best selves, regardless of their background, identity, or culture.

We were pioneers in setting diversity goals for senior roles, implementing a menopause health package, and launching a dedicated initiative for those working with cancer.

We particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups.

We are committed to being disability confident. If you require reasonable adjustments to our recruitment processes, please inform us.

Benefits:

  • A competitive pension contribution of up to 15%.
  • An annual bonus based on Group performance.
  • Share schemes, including complimentary shares.
  • Flexible benefits that can be tailored to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
  • 28 days of holiday, in addition to bank holidays.
  • A variety of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.

Join us in making a significant impact through your work, contributing to the financial well-being of millions.

At Lloyds Banking Group, we are driven by a clear purpose: to help Britain prosper. Our colleagues are dedicated to making a positive difference to customers, businesses, and communities. With us, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of financial services, while benefiting from numerous opportunities for learning, growth, and development.

Data Privacy:

We prioritize the safety of your data. We will only request confidential or sensitive information once you have been formally invited for an interview or have accepted a verbal offer, at which point we conduct background checks. We will always clarify what information we need and why, with any requests coming from a trusted representative of Lloyds Banking Group.

Our Values:

We are focused on fostering a values-driven culture and are dedicated to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together, we are creating a truly inclusive workplace where all our colleagues have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
