About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Threat Intelligence Specialist to join our team at Police ICT. As a key member of our Threat Intelligence team, you will play a critical role in developing awareness for the policing community of the cyber risks to critical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Threat Intelligence: Continuously assess the threat landscape and inform stakeholders of potential cyber risks.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Report cyber risks to service, executive, and operational stakeholders for mitigation decisions.
  • Threat Mitigation: Limit the impact of known cyber risks by engaging forces in pre-incident planning and preparatory activities.
  • Attack Surface Reduction: Constrain attack surfaces through proactive threat intelligence working directly alongside the threat hunting and malware service.
Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Ability to acquire SC and NPPV3 level clearances.
  • Threat Landscape Knowledge: Knowledge of current threat landscape including specific awareness of adversarial cyber actors, including their TTPs.
  • Open-Source Intelligence: Experience in utilising open-source intelligence and the development of tools to assist with this.
  • Malware Analysis: Experience in conducting malware, phishing, and SIEM log analysis.
  • Cyber Threat Intelligence Sources: Knowledge of relevant cyber threat intelligence sources.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to translate cyber threats to the relevant audience, both verbally and written.
  • Reporting and Presentation: Ability to generate clear and concise reports and presentations for stakeholders, from technical analysts to management and senior leadership teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience in internal and external stakeholder management and engagement.
  • Intelligence Environment: Experience of working in an intelligence environment, ideally as an intelligence researcher or analyst.
  • Independent Work: Ability to work independently within a cyber environment with limited oversight and/or guidance.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Analytical Experience: 3+ years of experience in an analytical role with specific focus on cyber threats.
  • CREST Registration: CREST Registered Threat Intelligence Analyst.
  • Cybercrime Recommendations: Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering cybercrime or risk reduction recommendations and/or strategies.
  • Intelligence Analysis Course: Completed Intelligence Analysis course (e.g. NIAT, RISC UK or similar).
  • UK Police Cyber Environment: Understanding of UK Police cyber and IT environments.
Working Arrangements

We offer a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work from home 2 days a week and collaborate with our team in our modern office environment. Please note that in Q3 of 2025, the NMC will be relocating to offices in the Wigan area.
