About the Role

The Growth Company's Education and Skills team is seeking a highly skilled Maths and English Educator to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing effective Functional Skills and GCSE lessons to maximize learner progress and achievement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initial and Ongoing Assessment: Conduct initial and ongoing assessment in line with company policy to inform placement of learners on effective programmes of learning.
  • Personalized Learning: Use IA outcomes and all available information to personalize learning experiences for individuals.
  • Inclusive Strategies: Adopt inclusive strategies to ensure support and challenge for all, including learners with SEND, challenging behaviors, other personal and social difficulties, and medical needs.
  • Classroom Management: Effectively manage learner behavior and classroom climate to create a secure and positive learning environment.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess learners' work in line with company policy, using diagnostic and personalized feedback to drive ongoing progress toward examination.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and monitor progress of individuals and groups of learners to ensure rapid and sustained progress from prior attainment.
  • Intervention: Identify learners in danger of underachievement and liaise with colleagues to ensure prompt, effective intervention.
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute to the development of the Maths and English team by working collaboratively with colleagues on resources, schemes of work, and pedagogy.
  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver good and outstanding teaching and learning across a range of centers and to groups of differing size and profile, as directed.

Requirements
  • Teaching Experience: Experience of teaching Functional Skills and GCSE in challenging environments.
  • Planning and Assessment: Experience of planning, teaching, and assessment for progress.
  • Subject-Specific Qualifications: Subject-specific and teaching qualifications appropriate to the role.
  • Motivating Learners: Ability to motivate disengaged learners and to plan engaging, inclusive lessons.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in collaboration with all colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to Education: Genuine commitment to improving the prospects of young people and adult learners.
  • Experience with Hard-to-Reach Learners: Recent experience of successful teaching of 'hard to reach' learners.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work flexibly across a range of sites to meet the needs of the business.
