Oncology Nurse Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Oncology Nurse to join our team at NHS Professionals. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals with cancer and related conditions.
About the Role: As a Registered Oncology Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing and monitoring patient conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care. You will also be required to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, communicate effectively with patients and families, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor patient conditions, identifying and addressing any changes or concerns
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs, preferences, and goals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education, support, and guidance throughout the care process
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the development of evidence-based practices
Requirements:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Minimum of 6 months paid experience within an oncology ward environment within the last 3 years
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
