We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Metabolic Disease Specialist Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a key member of our Paediatric Metabolic CNS team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with rare metabolic disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate inpatient and outpatient care for patients with complex metabolic conditions.
- Organize emergency alerts and illness management to ensure timely and effective treatment.
- Conduct specialist tests, investigations, and infusions to diagnose and manage metabolic disorders.
- Provide education and support to healthcare professionals, families, and patients to promote understanding and self-management of metabolic conditions.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Develop and maintain expertise in metabolic nursing practice to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to metabolic nursing practice.
- Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN) or equivalent qualification.
- Current NMC registration.
- Post-registration experience in paediatric nursing, preferably in a metabolic or related specialty.
- Relevant post-registration qualifications, such as a Master's degree in a health-related subject.
- Teaching and assessing qualifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the service.
