About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Metabolic Disease Specialist Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). As a key member of our Paediatric Metabolic CNS team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with rare metabolic disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate inpatient and outpatient care for patients with complex metabolic conditions.
  • Organize emergency alerts and illness management to ensure timely and effective treatment.
  • Conduct specialist tests, investigations, and infusions to diagnose and manage metabolic disorders.
  • Provide education and support to healthcare professionals, families, and patients to promote understanding and self-management of metabolic conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in metabolic nursing practice to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and experiences.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to metabolic nursing practice.
Requirements
  • Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN) or equivalent qualification.
  • Current NMC registration.
  • Post-registration experience in paediatric nursing, preferably in a metabolic or related specialty.
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications, such as a Master's degree in a health-related subject.
  • Teaching and assessing qualifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the service.
