About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Engineer 2 to join our team at SYSTRA. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment and the Railways Interoperability Regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of System Safety Engineers in the development and implementation of system safety plans and hazard management processes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and deliver system safety training packages for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and inspection of company projects to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for enhancement.
  • Facilitate hazard workshops and provide expert advice on system safety and interoperability.
  • Produce key documents, including system safety plans, hazard records, and safety justification reports.
  • Assist the System Safety Team in providing advice on system safety and participating in safe by design initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of successful application and management of the CSM hazard management process in complex multi-disciplinary project environments.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work with and develop a growing Systems Safety Team.
  • Ability to manage and plan workload effectively, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Experience leading others in delivering system safety activities, including training, workshops, and meetings.
  • Experience of leading liaison with regulatory bodies and independent assessment bodies.
  • Ability to carry out duties on complex multi-disciplinary and simple projects, working alongside existing Systra designers and external designers.
  • Ideal membership of or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • 10+ years' directly applicable experience within the railway industry.
