Role Overview

Our proficient economists assist organizations and their legal representatives in high-stakes antitrust and regulatory issues, as well as commercial disputes, where rigorous economic evidence is essential.

We are a global practice with extensive experience advising on matters before regulatory agencies and courts in the US, UK, EU, China, and Japan.

We frequently collaborate with academic partners, merging academic rigor with top-tier consulting expertise to produce compelling evidence that effectively addresses the inquiries posed by agencies or courts.

Our economics team is integrated within a broader Risk practice, allowing you to collaborate closely with other professionals, including forensic accountants and data analysts, who often support our cases.

For instance, our data analysts aid in data manipulation and analysis, enabling our economists to concentrate on economic and econometric evaluations.

All candidates must possess substantial and relevant professional experience, along with a strong understanding of microeconomics, ideally in industrial organization, advanced microeconomics, or econometrics.

AlixPartners has adopted a hybrid work model to offer flexibility and support our employees' work-life balance. This model combines a mix of in-person and remote work, with travel being a component of this role, varying based on client, team, and individual circumstances.

Collaborative Culture

You will collaborate with economic experts to establish the analytical framework for cases, manage project teams in conducting research and analysis, and lead the drafting of deliverables, including expert reports.

Significant client interaction is expected, often leading the management of client relationships on cases, discussing our analytical approach with clients and their legal advisors, and presenting our findings.

All senior team members serve as mentors and career advisors to junior staff, and we anticipate you will embrace this role, providing training and guidance.

You will receive support from our leadership team to aid in your development, with Managing Directors actively mentoring and advising you to elevate your career.

We have a proven track record of developing senior economists, assisting them in building their personal brands in the market and strengthening their relationships with private-practice lawyers and corporations, ultimately becoming trusted advisors.

Our EMEA economics team is enriched by the representation of 16 nationalities.

Qualifications

A postgraduate degree, either a Master's or PhD, in economics or econometrics, preferably focusing on industrial organization, advanced microeconomics, or applied econometrics is required.

Relevant professional experience includes roles in government or authorities dealing with competition issues or economic regulation, or experience in an economics consultancy.

A proven track record of leading rigorous economic analysis on challenging projects and presenting findings in clear and compelling reports is essential.

Willingness to work outside of standard business hours, particularly as unique projects or needs arise, is expected.

Language Proficiency

Candidates must be fluent in English. Proficiency in other European languages, especially German and French, would be advantageous.
