About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance and Logistics Manager to join our team at CV Library. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring that our business units are fully compliant with applicable UK HMRC import and export rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Compliance Management

Ensure that all import and export activities are in compliance with UK and international laws, including customs regulations, trade compliance, and import/export controls.

  1. Trade Compliance Expertise

Promote and embed a trade compliant mentality across the organization, educating and supporting business stakeholders on trade regulations and compliance requirements.

  1. Documentation and Record-Keeping

Ensure that all required documentation for import/export, customs clearance, and trade compliance is accurate, timely, and properly filed.

  1. Risk Management

Prioritize the resolution of risks and opportunities to minimize risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  1. Audit and Compliance

Initiate, prepare for, and lead internal and external compliance audits, providing detailed reports on logistics operations and identifying areas for improvement.

  1. Process Improvement

Initiate and complete regular internal and 3rd party reviews and audits on logistics import and export processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as needed.

  1. Relationship Management

Continuing relationship with HMRC as the main contact point for export/import queries, ensuring that all import/export activities comply with company policy and local, country, and international laws and processes.

  1. Product Classification

Maintain accurate product classification (HS/commodity codes) and country of origin details for imports and exports.

  1. Reporting and Compliance

Support the Company Tax Accountant in dealings with HMRC reporting obligations, including VAT and duty reporting.

  1. Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with Finance, Sales, and Legal departments on VAT and EU trade topics and reporting, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and compliant with regulatory requirements.

  1. Continuous Improvement

Identify areas of risk and define and implement relevant actions to improve performance, ensuring that all logistics and customs tasks are undertaken and performed in accordance with the company's relevant supply chain and logistic policies, procedures, and practices.

  1. Training and Development

Provide ongoing training, support, and guidance to logistics teams on regulatory changes and compliance requirements, ensuring that all team members are aware of and compliant with regulatory standards.

  1. Service Provider Management

Liaise with and performance manage external service providers, including freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers, to ensure that they meet compliance standards.

Requirements

Essential

  1. Degree in Business or similar relevant qualification(s) or extensive experience in a similar shipping role.
  2. Knowledge and experience of the Supply Chain within a manufacturing and/or oil and gas service environment.
  3. High degree of knowledge and experience of import and export procedures and use of HMRC authorisations.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of shipping Dangerous Goods.
  5. Strong understanding of UK and international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export compliance.
  6. Strong Multi-modal, domestic/international/local transportation experience.
  7. Experience in managing audits and working with external stakeholders such as customs brokers and freight forwarders.
  8. Financial and Numeric literacy within a business environment.
  9. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  10. Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  1. Logistics qualification / Import-export courses and certificates.
  2. Experience in managing international supply chains and familiarity with Brexit-related trade changes.
  3. Knowledge and experience of business ERP system, ideally D365.

Personal Qualities

  1. Excellent communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills.
  2. High degree of commercial acumen.
  3. Strong on compliance.
  4. Must be willing to travel and able to spend time away from home.

Remuneration and Extras

  1. Salary - £55-65K
  2. Permanent Role
  3. 37 hours per week (Mon- Thu 8am to 4pm)
