Job Title: Children and Young People Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Children and Young People Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. As a key member of our Mental Health Support Team, you will play a vital role in providing early intervention mental health support to children and young people in education settings.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team to deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs. You will work closely with schools, families, and other professionals to identify and address mental health issues, promoting emotional wellbeing and positive mental health.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people in education settings, including those with SEND additional needs. Help children and young people access specialist services when needed. Support and facilitate staff in education settings to identify and manage mental health issues. Work with schools to develop strategies and activities promoting emotional wellbeing and positive mental health. Collaborate with families using the parent as therapist method to support emotional wellbeing at home. Support schools in developing their whole school approach to emotional wellbeing.

Requirements

Hold a Educational Mental Health Practitioner or Child Wellbeing Practitioner qualification. Have a good understanding of children with additional needs learning styles and how to adapt practice to support them. Be able to work and build relationships with a wide variety of professionals, schools, and families. Have a good understanding of risk assessing and seek support from supervisor to manage risk. Be willing and able to participate fully in supervision. Have a flexible approach and resilience under pressure. Be able to work both in a team environment and autonomously. Maintain a high degree of professionalism when working in emotive settings.
