Position Overview:
As a Youth Housing Support Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in assisting young individuals facing housing challenges. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate comprehensive assessments and case management to effectively prevent homelessness among vulnerable youth.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Youth Hub Team Leader.
Compensation:
The salary for this role is set at Scale SO1, Points 29-31, ranging from £29,090 to £31,014 per annum, pro rata.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours of work per week.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Assessment Coordination:**
- Conduct thorough evaluations of housing and support needs to avert homelessness whenever feasible.
- Investigate housing and personal histories to determine eligibility and priority needs for local authorities.
2. **Case Management:**
- Facilitate weekly case reviews with Homeless Prevention Workers to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
- Perform monthly audits to meet contract outcomes and monitor case progress against the five homelessness tests.
3. **Support Services:**
- Provide high-quality housing options tailored to the needs of young people, managing their expectations effectively.
- Establish and nurture professional relationships with internal and external partners to create a holistic support network.
4. **Referral and Signposting:**
- Ensure young individuals are referred to appropriate services, including Floating Support and specialized agencies.
- Assist young people in engaging with their Personal Housing Plans (PHP) and provide relevant support to prevent or alleviate homelessness.
5. **Team Management:**
- Support the team in delivering exceptional support services that empower young people to make informed decisions about their lives.
- Oversee the development of staff through effective management, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.
6. **Performance Monitoring:**
- Measure service performance by setting and achieving targets, producing necessary reports.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data collection requirements.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Relevant training in Housing & Business Management, Personnel, or Care & Support Work (e.g., NVQ Level 5).
Desirable:
- Degree or HNC in a relevant field.
- Professional qualifications such as CQSW or Youth & Community DMS.
Experience:
Essential:
- Proven experience working with young people in areas such as Youth Homelessness, Management, or Education.
Desirable:
- Experience with young individuals facing complex needs and statutory decision-making.
Knowledge:
Essential:
- Strong understanding of housing rights, welfare reform, and relevant legislation.
- Commitment to equality and anti-discriminatory practices.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Housing Benefit systems and immigration law.
