Housing and Support Coordinator

Job Summary:
St Basils is seeking a skilled and compassionate Homeless Prevention Worker to join our team in Coventry. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with young people, families, and other organizations to provide holistic support and prevent homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with local organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response to housing and support needs.
- Provide prompt and proactive support to young people, engaging them in the assessment process and signposting them to relevant services and agencies.
- Conduct thorough assessments, providing information, advice, and guidance to ensure young people receive the necessary support and services.
- Deliver an Advice and Wellbeing service to young people at risk of homelessness, working closely with local authorities, housing providers, and other stakeholders.
- Undertake background checks to assess risk and need, working with landlords, families, and other relevant parties.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with private landlords, social housing providers, and supported accommodation providers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of roles and responsibilities.
- Carry out homelessness prevention work, applying mediation and conciliation techniques as necessary, and reporting on outcomes and caseload management.
- Safeguard young people and vulnerable adults at risk, escalating concerns and reporting to statutory services as required.
- Attend panel meetings and review/case conference meetings to discuss young people's cases and develop effective support plans.
- Provide advice and support to a range of stakeholders, including service heads, social workers, and other professionals.
- Develop and deliver training and briefings to partnership agencies, promoting an integrated approach to working with young people and their support needs.
- Participate in local on-call services, providing out-of-hours support and advice.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of homelessness, youth support, and housing issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with young people, families, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing a caseload effectively.
- Strong assessment and reporting skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
- Knowledge of local services, agencies, and stakeholders, with the ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships.
