Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to assume a pivotal leadership role within the secondary care psychological services in Barking & Dagenham. This newly established position underscores the critical need for psychological expertise and leadership in secondary care settings, including the innovative integration of Community Psychology into our service offerings.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a highly regarded team of psychologists, all of whom are passionate about delivering exceptional care to service users and their families. We are looking for someone who is aligned with our vision of best practices, national guidelines, and evidence-based approaches while also being adaptable and innovative in their practice.

Main Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership for psychologists within secondary care mental health services.
  • Support the implementation of best practice guidelines and ongoing projects aimed at transforming secondary services.
  • Facilitate the integration of psychology into broader mental health teams.
  • Engage in both direct and indirect clinical work, offering specialized assessments, interventions, and consultations.
  • Handle operational tasks to enhance service delivery and represent psychological services at various forums.

Probationary Period

This position is subject to a probationary period, with exceptions for certain internal applicants.

Compensation

This role includes a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary, with minimum and maximum payments specified.

Candidate Profile

  • HCPC registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
  • Experience in psychological assessment and treatment of complex adult mental health issues.
  • Familiarity with high-risk populations and assertive outreach principles.
  • Experience in teaching and consultation within psychology and related fields.
  • A track record of leading initiatives that address health inequalities.
