Lead Nursing Officer - Band 6

Full-time role with rotation to night shifts

The Brackley Community Hospital features a 16-bed unit dedicated to addressing the needs of patients with chronic conditions, rehabilitation requirements, and facilitating transitions from community care to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Band 6 Lead Nursing Officer, you will oversee a team of nursing professionals within the ward. Your responsibilities will encompass comprehensive nursing assessments upon patient admission, delivering clinical expertise throughout the inpatient journey, and executing intricate discharge planning to ensure a seamless transition for patients. You will also play a pivotal role in staff development by conducting performance evaluations, offering guidance, and creating personalized development plans. Mentorship for students and on-the-job training for all ward staff will also be part of your duties. Additionally, you will assist in ward management tasks, including staff scheduling and human resources, with support from the Ward Matron during her absence. The Trust encourages participation in an exceptional leadership development program, alongside opportunities to enhance your clinical skills in a nurse-led service during off-hours.

Effective multi-disciplinary collaboration is essential for successful discharge planning; candidates must exhibit high motivation, forward-thinking capabilities, and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in literacy and IT is crucial, as the ward utilizes electronic patient records.
