About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Modeller to join our team at Ricardo, a global strategic, environmental, and engineering consulting company. As an Energy Modeller, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining large-scale models across the energy, environment, and transport sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and update the CompactPRIMES current model versions.
  • Develop country-specific CompactPRIMES models.
  • Collect, structure, maintain, and analyze country-specific databases with relevance for energy, economy, and power sector.
  • Work closely with modellers and analysts and contribute to the preparation of energy policy scenarios.
  • Draft reports and/or presentations on the energy sector based on model results.
Requirements
  • Hold an MSc degree in engineering, applied mathematics, or physics.
  • Proven work and/or research experience in the field of energy systems analysis or engineering. Experience in operations research, mathematical programming, optimization modelling, or general software programming is an asset.
  • Demonstrated data management skills, including the ability to use programming tools, preferably GAMS or Python or R for modelling.
  • Be an excellent user of MS Office, with emphasis on MS Excel (including VBA).
  • Be proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Have a good understanding of European and/or international energy and environmental policy issues and of fundamentals of economic theory.
  • Have a detail-oriented and problem-solving mindset, collaborative attitude, and willingness to learn.
  • Proven writing skills gained through (co-) authorship of academic articles, technical, and/or policy reports in English is an asset.
