This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate within the MEH Alliance on the esteemed Hinkley Point C Nuclear initiative. The alliance is focused on the integration and coordination of all primary MEH, cabling, and related support services, facilitating a unified approach among various contractors to effectively manage the intricate installation of cabling and piping across the power station's extensive facilities.
Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Construction Project Engineer, you will oversee and inspire your team by implementing best practices, promoting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to all nuclear safety and site licensing standards.
Your daily tasks will include delivering Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance program, alongside fostering a robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture throughout the project's lifecycle.

  • Facilitate the utilization of the Procon system to enhance construction operations and progress tracking for the MEH Alliance.
  • Ensure compliance with the Work Authorisation and Permit systems established by NNB.
  • Coordinate safe access routes to work areas to support construction activities.
  • Oversee necessary topographical and surveying tasks to assist the MEH Alliance construction efforts.
  • Manage documentation prioritization to enable construction activities as per the established schedule.
  • Verify that all documents align with the latest project information and MEH documentation.

This is a full-time position with a commitment of 37 hours per week based in Bridgwater, Somerset. We operate on a 9-day fortnight schedule (every other Friday off).
Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience in major construction projects, particularly in highly regulated environments, with a strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work.
  • Nuclear site experience is not mandatory.
  • Experience at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including involvement in Joint Ventures.

Required Qualifications

  • HNC/ONC or equivalent vocational training with experience in Mechanical and Piping system installation.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to obtain BPSS security clearance for this role.
