This position offers a unique chance to collaborate within the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance is designed to streamline and synchronize the delivery of all primary Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC (MEH) services, ensuring a cohesive approach among various contractors for the intricate installation of cabling and piping throughout the facility's extensive infrastructure.
Role Overview

As a Mechanical Construction Project Engineer, your responsibilities will be both diverse and impactful. You will lead and inspire your team by implementing best practices, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to all safety and regulatory standards.
Your daily tasks will include delivering Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance's objectives, while also promoting a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture throughout the entire construction lifecycle of the project.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the utilization of the Procon system to enhance construction activities and progress tracking for the MEH Alliance.
  • Oversee the compliance and authorization processes for work permits as required by the MEH Alliance.
  • Coordinate safe access routes to work areas to support construction efforts.
  • Manage the surveying and topographical assessments necessary for the MEH Alliance's construction activities.
  • Prioritize and maintain documentation to ensure construction activities align with project timelines.
  • Verify that all documents are up-to-date and compliant with the latest project specifications.

This is a full-time position with a standard workweek of 37 hours, operating on a 9-day fortnight schedule (every other Friday off).
Essential Qualifications for the Mechanical Construction Project Engineer:

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects, particularly in regulated environments, with a strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work.
  • Experience in nuclear environments is not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated capability at Engineer or Senior Engineer levels, including experience in Joint Ventures.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/ONC or equivalent vocational training and experience in Mechanical and Piping system installations.

Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance for this position.
