The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for assisting in the management of casework provisions. This role involves collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all formal employee relations processes within the organization are executed to the required standards and in accordance with established policies, while maintaining a high level of governance.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of the Employee Relations Specialist include:
- Collaborating with HR Employee Relations Casework Managers and departmental managers to oversee all casework and employee relations activities, including disciplinary actions, grievances, performance issues, attendance management, and probation assessments.
- Assisting in the management of litigation cases, such as Employment Tribunals and Personal Injury claims, by partnering with relevant internal and external stakeholders to collect and prepare necessary evidence, witness statements, and support individuals throughout the process.
- Building effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including but not limited to: Government Legal Department, Trade Union Representatives, and relevant policy groups.
- Monitoring and maintaining up-to-date casework Management Information (MI), identifying trends and risks, and proactively proposing solutions.
- Supporting the preparation of accurate monthly reports for HR Employee Relations Casework Managers and the HR Employee Relations Lead for presentation to senior management.
- Working closely with managers and HR colleagues to review case outcome recommendations and ensure timely execution of any necessary actions.
- Providing training and refresher sessions as needed for responsible investigation, decision-making, and appeal managers, along with offering support to managers as required.
- Maintaining a comprehensive governance system covering all aspects of casework, including records management, compliance with data protection regulations, and oversight of the legal budget.
- Offering coaching and support to managers as necessary.
- Assisting with the implementation of relevant policy changes, including communication to the organization and updates to the Staff Handbook.
- Providing administrative support to HR Employee Relations Casework Managers, including invoice processing, minute-taking, and other tasks as required, while ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.
The ideal candidate for the Employee Relations Specialist position will possess:
- Demonstrable, up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR practices, particularly in casework management.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage changing priorities.
