Position Overview

The Treetops Shortbreaks Unit provides essential overnight respite for children aged 5 to 18 in Kent, catering to those with learning disabilities and/or Autism, alongside various additional support requirements. Our primary goal is to ensure that children enjoy meaningful interactions with their peers, develop new skills, make informed choices, and receive care in a secure and nurturing atmosphere, allowing both them and their families to benefit from a well-deserved break.

Key Responsibilities

We seek an individual with outstanding communication abilities who can thrive in a dynamic team environment, delivering high-quality care to the children and young people we serve. The role requires a proactive approach, balancing independent initiative with collaborative guidance, all while prioritizing the needs of the child or young person.

Essential Qualifications

  • Ability to adhere to and update care plans as necessary.
  • Willingness to engage in shift work as part of a scheduled rota.
  • Capability to produce accurate and factual reports.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and applying theoretical knowledge in practice.
  • Experience in providing personal care for children and young people.
  • Proactive attitude towards personal and professional development.
  • Effective communication skills, fostering an open and honest dialogue.
  • Skill in organizing and facilitating new recreational and social activities for children and young people.
  • Understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
  • Possession of, or willingness to pursue, the Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
