Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the effective upkeep of the building and surrounding grounds, ensuring a safe and functional environment for all users. This role encompasses a variety of technical and administrative responsibilities aimed at maintaining high standards across the school premises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all pathways, roads, and outdoor areas are well-maintained and free from hazards, implementing safety measures during adverse weather conditions.
  • Supervise cleaning staff to guarantee that all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently, while also being prepared to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Proactively plan and execute repairs and maintenance tasks, addressing various issues such as electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs to uphold the school's operational integrity.
  • Monitor the heating system, reporting any malfunctions to management to optimize energy efficiency.
  • Uphold Health and Safety standards by maintaining accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and overseeing contractor work to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections, promptly addressing any recommendations from health and safety assessments and maintenance checks.
  • Serve as Fire Warden, participating in fire drills and suggesting safety enhancements as necessary, while ensuring all fire safety equipment is regularly checked and documented.
  • Manage the Legionella Management plan, including regular monitoring and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a foundational understanding of Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, Asbestos Management, and other relevant regulations, with ongoing training as required.
  • Regularly review and update Health and Safety policies to ensure the safety of all children and visitors on site.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance schedule, conducting routine inspections of facilities to identify and report any repair needs to management.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, including those related to Health and Safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Adhere to the organization's Safeguarding Policy, prioritizing the welfare of all children.
  • This position requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and verification of qualifications.
