Join Our Team as a Logistics Operations Supervisor

Are you prepared to take on a crucial position in advancing our dedication to quality at Reed Boardall Group? We are in search of a committed Logistics Operations Supervisor to become part of our vibrant logistics team, working in close partnership with the Transport Manager. In this capacity, you will play a significant role in ensuring the efficient functioning of our logistics fleets and improving our customer interactions.

Reporting Structure:

• Reports directly to the Transport Shift Leader.
• Key member of the logistics team.

Collaboration with:

• Reed Boardall Group, encompassing Transport and Cold Storage operations.
• Colleagues within Reed Boardall Group.
• External partners, aiding in the enhancement of our logistics processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Interaction and Satisfaction:
• Ensure clear and informative communication with clients.
• Swiftly address and resolve client concerns.

Driver and Dispatch Oversight:
• Manage driver assignments, dispatching, and delivery/collection schedules.
• Verify driver availability and next-day start times.

Hours Verification and Payroll Management:
• Oversee and confirm the reported hours of your team of drivers for weekly payroll.
• Clearly communicate any deductions or adjustments to individual drivers.

Incident Reporting Excellence:
• Conduct thorough investigations of incidents with accuracy.
• Gather, act upon, and disseminate information to relevant departments.

Team Collaboration and Communication:
• Work effectively with other departments and team members within the logistics team.
• Exhibit strong communication abilities.

Time Management and Prioritization:
• Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.

Vehicle Maintenance and Issue Resolution:
• Address Vehicle Off-Road (VOR) situations, servicing, and defect management.
• Collaborate with the fleet department to ensure vehicle and trailer roadworthiness.

Multitasking and Flexibility:
• Demonstrate adaptability in managing multiple tasks based on workload demands.

Operational Issue Communication:
• Report operational issues to the shift manager to maintain high customer satisfaction and meet company KPIs.
• Escalate situations involving driver duty time constraints to the appropriate line manager.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
• Uphold a high level of compliance with legal standards.
• Timely resolution of driver infringements.

Technical Proficiency and Industry Insight:
• Proficient in PC applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Possess a solid understanding of the logistics industry.

Experience/Knowledge:
Desirable (not mandatory):
• Familiarity with general office practices and procedures.
• Previous experience with logistics management systems (training available).
• Proficiency in maintaining detailed records.
• Skills in managing workloads, time, and conflicting priorities.
• International Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) is advantageous.

Essential:
• Knowledge of LGV transport.
• Proficiency in general IT systems and applications in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding and experience with driver hours and EU driver regulations.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
• Effective communication with internal and external contacts at all levels.
• Adaptability in responding to unforeseen situations, providing guidance and support.
• Punctuality in meeting deadlines and directing others to do the same.
• Professional communication in challenging situations with clients and stakeholders.
• Teamwork capability.
• Self-motivation and proactive initiative.

Shift Patterns:
• Monday – Friday, 14:00 – 22:00
• Monday – Friday, 00:01 – 08:00

Qualifications:
• A satisfactory level of education (e.g., GCSEs or equivalent) including Mathematics and English.
