Crime Department Opportunities at Duncan Lewis Solicitors

As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of criminal cases, providing expert representation to clients from all walks of life.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to Department Director and contribute to the development of the team
  • Manage all aspects of Crime work, including case preparation and client communication
  • Attend clients, take instructions, and prepare cases for court
  • Deal with correspondence and maintain accurate time costing procedures to ensure efficient case management
  • Implement recommendations from supervisors and contribute to the improvement of our services
  • Ensure compliance with file management and handle a full range of Criminal Defence cases, including those involving complex legal issues
  • Represent clients detained at the police station and conduct advocacy in court with confidence and expertise
  • Have a proactive approach with strong client care skills, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of service
  • Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives, helping to grow our Crime Department and expand our services
Key Skills Required:
  • Duty and Police Station Accredited, with a strong understanding of the legal framework
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
  • Excellent networking and communication abilities, with a focus on building strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and document management, with a focus on efficiency and productivity
  • Extensive experience in handling Criminal Defence caseload, with a strong understanding of the complexities of the law
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
  • Knowledge of publicly funded Crime work and privately funded cases, with a strong understanding of the legal and procedural requirements
