Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing specialist clinical pharmacy services in Gastroenterology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in Gastroenterology, working closely with the Principal Pharmacist.
  • Act as a specialist role model and expert in the medical management of Gastroenterology patients.
  • Participate in outpatient clinics to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Ensure a high level of clinical pharmacy input to the care of patients within Gastroenterology, providing interface and discharge liaison and support.
  • Actively participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, delivering and promoting high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Develop and implement local guidelines, protocols, and policies to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level, providing education and training to healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust.
  • Contribute to financial reporting, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting, as well as drug budget management and cost improvement programs.
  • Participate in practice and clinical research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • MPharm (Masters Degree) or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered Pharmacist with 1 year of competency-assessed and examined professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in pharmacy practice or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice.
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy.
  • Experience of supervising others, protocol/guideline development, and multi-disciplinary team working.
  • Ability to provide complex information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy, and financial issues to all levels of healthcare professionals.
  • Able to implement and manage change, work well under pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Registered independent prescriber or willingness to complete.
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to motivate self and others, and influence junior medical staff and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Member of the RPS faculty and demonstration of advanced practice using evidence mapped to the RPS Advanced Practice Framework.
