About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored lessons for students with SEN.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social skills and self-confidence in students.
  • Support classroom management and maintain a positive behaviour policy, ensuring that students feel safe and supported.
  • Help with assessments and provide feedback on student progress, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating successes.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting, particularly with SEN.
  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team, building positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN, understanding the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of the primary school curriculum and strategies for supporting SEN students, staying up-to-date with best practices and research.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students, being able to think on your feet and respond to changing circumstances.
  • An updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
