Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Policy Manager to join our team at Vox Network Consultants. As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a crucial role in developing and managing transportation policies and strategies that support the Council's Long Term Transport Strategy and Local Implementation Plan.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Developing and agreeing strategic transport policies and initiatives.
  2. Identifying and assessing opportunities to maximise inward investment.
  3. Working with colleagues to ensure timely delivery of Section 106 funding from developers towards transport improvements.
  4. Progress monitoring and reporting on policies and management of programme budgets.
  5. Reviewing and promoting Council Transport policy.
  6. Promoting behaviour change to encourage sustainable and active travel.
  7. Presenting projects, policies and strategies at meetings and events.
  8. Attending site visits and providing support to other Council departments.
  9. Maintaining and improving knowledge of local and national planning and transport policies.
  10. Preparing reports and representing the Transportation service at Committees and other meetings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A comprehensive understanding of transport planning schemes, including road safety, traffic management, bus priority, parking, cycling and pedestrian provision.
  2. Knowledge of transport planning issues nationally, regionally and locally.
  3. Experience of working in a transport planning environment with policy development experience in the public or private sectors.
  4. Understanding of the political content and environment of Local Government.
  5. Ability to work with minimum supervision and take the initiative in solving work-related problems.
  6. Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

Educated to advanced level or equivalent, or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
