About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Commercial Counsel to join our International Privacy & Data Protection Department at Tencent. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our company's products and services adhere to appropriate data privacy and protection requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and support to our global businesses on privacy-related matters.
  • Advise on compliance with international data privacy laws and regulations, including data protection, data security, and data breach rules.
  • Develop and implement programs to facilitate compliance with international data privacy and personal information collection rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Manage outside counsel for all privacy law projects.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer legal and commercial documentation.
  • Analyze global privacy legal requirements and keep our stakeholders informed of new privacy laws and regulations that may impact our business.

Our team collaborates closely with product teams and other internal teams to ensure that our products and services meet the highest standards of data privacy and protection.

Requirements:

  • Common law qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience, including experience in a law firm and/or in-house.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin) to communicate effectively with our headquarters.
