Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Mathematics is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach 100-level mathematics courses. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning, and contributing to the department's mission to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach 100-level mathematics courses, including algebra, calculus, and statistics
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development
  • Complete reports and evaluations as assigned by the Department Chair

Qualifications

  • Masters in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematical Education
  • Minimum 18 hours of graduate-level mathematics courses
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Commitment to improving access to higher education for all students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching mathematics courses at the college level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
