Role Responsibilities

In response to business expansion, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to work in our Bromsgrove office, engaging in stimulating projects throughout the Severn Trent Region. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing detailed bottom-up estimates for project activities, incorporating labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Reviewing bid specifications, drawings, and project documentation to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements and identify potential risks or opportunities.
  • Collaborating with approved suppliers and subcontractors to ascertain estimated costs.
  • Conducting cost analyses of alternative materials, methods, and design modifications, providing recommendations to optimize project expenses while upholding quality standards.
  • Managing the supply chain during the estimation process to ensure timely submissions for tender returns.
  • Engaging with clients to align expectations regarding timelines and costs.
  • Providing regular updates to the framework lead.
  • Ensuring estimates align with engineering specifications as outlined in the design brief within the tender inquiry.
  • Participating in site visits as necessary.
  • Completing tender sign-off and handover processes.

Candidate Profile

Aligned with our ethos and values, the ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of water/wastewater projects or a related industry. While experience in this area is preferred, it is not mandatory. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with meticulous attention to detail, are essential for thriving in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an Estimator in the construction/utilities sector, ideally with a robust background in water/wastewater.
  • A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Effective time management skills to meet tender deadlines.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in tender preparation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
