Position Overview

As a Wellness Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for implementing our weight management and health assessment initiatives within the community. Your role will also involve assisting in the creation of programs tailored to the specific needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to advocating for healthy living and facilitating client-focused motivational transformations.

You will execute our established weight management and health assessment programs while also contributing to the design of new initiatives that cater to our clients' requirements. A passion for promoting healthy lifestyles and a client-centered approach to motivational change are essential. Candidates should possess a background in nutrition, fitness, health enhancement, and weight management for adults and families, along with being a collaborative team member eager to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement ABL Health's Healthy Lifestyles service through individual consultations, community outreach, and digital platforms such as video calls or phone sessions.
  • Provide evidence-based education on nutrition, physical activity, and behavioral modification as directed by the ABL Health team, adhering to established program guidelines.
  • Utilize a client-centered methodology, employing techniques from positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
  • Facilitate the 1001 Days and Healthy Workplace initiatives.
  • Track client progress through regular consultations and data management using software tools, identifying tailored interventions for those not meeting their objectives.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to co-create in-session materials.
  • Contribute to performance reporting by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
  • Support ABL Health's online presence through social media engagement.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new staff and volunteers.
  • Work with individuals and groups to establish SMART goals.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, ensuring accurate documentation and completion of all necessary forms.
  • Understand and adhere to ABL Health's policies and procedures.
  • Engage potential clients at community events and promotional activities.
  • Participate in ongoing service development initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Qualification as a Level 2 Gym Instructor or Group Exercise Award, or equivalent.
  • Registration with a recognized professional body (to be obtained within six months of employment).

Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in delivering group and individual weight management interventions.
  • Ability to plan and implement health interventions tailored to individual needs.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and addressing health inequalities.
  • Familiarity with multi-disciplinary teamwork.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to quickly establish rapport.
  • Proficient in administrative tasks, record-keeping, and data collection.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to manage stress and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively as needed.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel independently as required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Must be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
