Avantor is seeking a Cell Bank Specialist to become part of our dedicated team. This role is crucial for supporting our client's cell culture and banking operations while adhering to Health & Safety and Good Laboratory Standards.
This position is ideal for a seasoned Senior Research Technician or Scientist with extensive experience in mammalian cell culture, banking, and aseptic techniques, looking for a work schedule that includes weekends. The role involves overseeing a small team and ensuring quality output during weekend shifts.
This is a part-time temporary role (12-month Fixed Term Contract), located in a state-of-the-art facility. Alongside a competitive salary, we provide a range of benefits including a pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and an additional day off for your birthday.
Working Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 8:00/9:00 AM to 4:00/5:00 PM, totaling 32 hours per week.
Team Dynamics:
You will join a newly formed Cell Biology group of three, responsible for various laboratory tasks to support cell culture initiatives.
This role is part of an initial pilot program, with the potential for permanent placement upon successful project completion.
Candidate Profile:
- Education: Degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent experience in a mammalian cell science laboratory, including leadership and training of other technicians.
- Experience:
- Proficient in mammalian cell and tissue culture, with a solid understanding of cell growth across various cell lines.
- Familiarity with laboratory research processes, compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Skilled in using IT systems and applications (training on specific in-house systems will be provided).
- Technical troubleshooting skills and experience in laboratory support tasks.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently within a team with minimal supervision.
- Conduct routine mammalian cell culture and banking, including reagent and media preparation.
- Perform cell quality control testing and analysis.
- Document shift task requirements and ensure effective handovers to meet supply needs.
- Serve as the primary contact for the Cell Bank and Science teams, actively engaging to understand and fulfill their operational requirements.
- Delegate tasks effectively during shifts to maintain product quality and optimize resource productivity.
