About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to work with mainstream primary schools in the Kingston area on a long-term basis.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with pupils on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with speech and language difficulties or behavioural issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school setting
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils with complex needs, including those with autism, behavioural issues, and speech and language difficulties
  • Use communication systems such as Makaton and PECS to support pupils with complex communication needs
Requirements
  • Qualifications in special educational needs or a related field
  • Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school setting
  • Ability to use communication systems such as Makaton and PECS
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
